Claremont Gardens evolution involved some of the great names in landscape gardening, including Capability Brown. The first gardens were initiated in about 1715. The many features include a lake, island with pavilion, grotto, and turf amphitheatre, viewpoints and vistas. Since 1975 the National Trust has been restoring the gardens following years of neglect.
