What is Aikido?
Yoshinkan Aikido is a very effective Martial Art taught to the Japanese Riot Police, which when used for self-defence can counter many different attacks.
Contrary to the violent punching or kicking martial arts often seen in action films, with Aikido you learn to defend yourself by blending with an attackers power, dispersing his energy, and finally, throwing or controlling the attacker. As such it is better suited to the typical person who wants to learn a disciplined martial art to defend themselves rather than learning a more aggressive style.
How Can I Join?
If you are interested please give Rod a call on 07721 864268 to see how you can experience Aikido in a friendly club. An example of what a practiced Aikido exponent can do is shown in the video to the left.
The Elmbridge Aikido Club is part of the LONDON, Hertfordshire & Surrey , SEN DO KAI Group which is headed by 5th Dan Terry Harrison.
Sensei Harrison is also practised in; Judo, Karate, Wing Chung Kung - Fu, Tae-Kwon-Do, Iaido, Jujitsu and Lion Style Kung Fu, of which parts are still incorporated in his self-defence applications.
